This one-year course, for mid-beginners, is a study of the French language and French-speaking cultures, with continued emphasis on the development of communicative skills and basic structures. The course combines in-class instruction and practice with self-paced study at home as guided by the tutor. Textbook: "Communication Progressive du Francais", niveau debutant, 2e edition.

Wednesday 11.15am - 12.30pm. 6 weeks. Classes start 16 July, finish 20 August.

This course offers members an introduction to the study of language and culture in the French Studies discipline. The subject is designed to equip students with the skills necessary to become independent language learners and to develop awareness and understanding of French-speaking cultures throughout the world.
At the end of this course, in terms of language skills gained, a student:-
* could recognise and use familiar words and simple phrases for concrete purposes;
* could introduce herself or someone else;
* could ask and answer basic questions about home, family, surroundings, and so on; and
* could communicate in a basic way, when the other person speaks slowly and clearly and is ready to repeat or reformulate to help communication.
Note: multimedia resources will be used to enhance the learning.
