This term we explore the influence of music in a historical and cultural context. The true magic happens when you know more about how and why music is made. During this course, you'll be listening to extracts from a wide selection of the great music of yesteryear, as well as modern musical styles. You'll also experience a substantial increase in the psychological benefits of listening to music. We explore music as an art in many categories. For example; Aesthetics, Emotional value; Intrinsic value, Consumption and performance. Topics may include Film Stage & TV; Celebrations; Dance; Patriotic; Military Music; Humour; and much more.
Venue: 232 Adelaide St
Thursday 1.15pm - 2.30pm. Classes start 17 July, finish 18 September.
Cost: $50 (prepaid), 10 weeks

'MUSIC IS MAGIC' and with your increased general understanding about how music is made', and 'why you are attracted to certain genres, you'll also experience a substantial increase in the psychological benefits of listening to it.
The ability to read and/or perform is not necessary.
About the Tutor:
Bernie’s long career in music encompasses: Professional trumpet playing;Teaching classroom music;
Lecturing in ”music" and "music-teacher education" (QUT);Adjudicating; and
Conducting Orchestras and Bands.
Bernie has been awarded an OAM for service to music through brass and concert bands. (2019)
