With growing interest in electric vehicles, this course looks at the pragmatics of ownership, basic understandings and the technical and social contexts that have brought the electric car to popularity. It is now provided over 6 sessions namely: Wk1 The Electric Car: not a caterpillar with wings. Wk2 The Electric Car: common concerns. Wk3 The Electric Car: why now? Wk4 The Electric Car: clean and green or dirty and mean? Wk5 The Electric Car: Myth-information. Wk6 Alternating Currents: the rise and fall and rise again of the electric car.

The purpose of this course is to help people be comfortable with the technology of the modern electric car and appreciate its potentialities. Upon enrolment, a Course Overview with brief session outlines of each week's content will be distributed electronically to each class member. A short glossary of common terms and abbreviations relevant to the program will also be given at the first session. After each session a pdf copy of slides and some relevant notes will also be provided.
About the Tutor:
John Murray describes himself as a ‘reformed petrol head’. But having owned electric cars exclusively since 2015 he now has real trust in the technology, appreciates the fantastic ownership and driving experiences and realizes how synergistically electric cars can integrate into a broader quality of life.
