This course provides strategies to help start researching members' family history and enhance their skills. Members will learn how to start their search and how to access birth, death and marriage records. The use of Census, Wills, newspapers, and probate records will also be covered. Participants in this course will also be shown various ways of organising the information gathered in their research. Matters relating to Privacy issues and Copyright, as well as citing sources, online records. The course will run for 9 weeks of which 8 weeks will be classroom lessons of 1.5hr duration and a field trip in week 9.
Venue: 232 Adelaide St
Tuesday 12.30pm - 2.00pm. Classes start 15 July, finish 16 September.
Cost: $50 (prepaid), 10 weeks

About the Tutor:

David BarnesDavid Barnes is an explorer of his own family history and his DNA and has been seriously looking at his Family since 2014. He presented in 2018 for the City of Moreton Bay which led to presentations for U3A commencing in 2019 to the present at Bribie Island, Beachmere and the Sunshine Coast. He is committee member of the Genealogical Society of Queensland having been their past Vice-President and Treasurer. David was the Convenor, in 2025, of Connections 2025 the Australasian Conference, held in Brisbane on behalf of the Australasian Federation of Family History Organisations and History Queensland.
