Recent research suggests that loneliness is reaching 'epidemic' proportions in Australia. In this course we examine the often-unanswered questions concerning loneliness. Key questions among others are: Is loneliness an individual issue or a societal issue? Is the structure of our society a cause of loneliness and hence making it a social justice issue? Are growing levels of loneliness linked to the rise of figures such as Donald Trump? The aim of this course is to attempt to foster a critical deeper understanding of loneliness through informed group discussion of provided materials.
