K09 How to Write a Biography

Tutor: Yvonne Webb
This is not a family tree class nor a class of quick tips of how to write a story. Most of those enrolling have wanted to write, have lots of ideas but need structure and assistance in what and how to write. The class is held in a round table format with everyone participating. Each week students read out what they have written in the week. Most require time in addition to class time to produce results. So if you have limited time during the week then perhaps this is not the right time for this class.
Venue: 232 Adelaide St
Monday 10.00am - 11.00am. Classes start 2 February, finish 6 April.
Cost: $45 (prepaid), 9 weeks
Current Enrolments: 7  (capacity 8)

The Biography can take one of several forms. Some complete publishable books, others prefer a less structured format just for their family. Some are very funny, others are reports of more solemn times. Some come for a few terms, then have a rest and then again return. All welcome.
The book used is The Scholar Explorer by Y Webb It is available from the author directly at $35 or from the publisher Boolarong Press.

About the Tutor:

As an academic I have spent my life writing in various genre. I have published successful cookbooks with world-wide copyright, written scientific papers, chapters in books, summaries of other authors, written critiques, written biographies, taught numerous students in various forms of writing. People write to be read by others. Understanding that has also been a part of my tutorials. https://yvonnewebb.ampbk.com

The published biography required many of the skills to take it from the level of family history to a published authentic biography. It took several years to research and write a Biography of a scientist associated with Australian history.
