We survey great women past and present, real and imaginary, well known and less familiar. Examples include Joan of Arc, Madame Curie, Lindy Chamberlain, Karen Silkwood, Jane Austen, Cleopatra, Amelia Erkhart, Calamity Jane, Anna Magdalena, Bach and Greta Tunberg. Most of our films are English - language. Some are documentaries, others are neglected classics from Europe, Russia and elsewhere, subtitled where necessary. Films may include The Cranes are Flying, Carve her Name with Pride, Mrs Miniver, Sophie's Choice, The First Wive's Club, Odetta, Evil Angels, Blackbook (Dutch) Marriage of Maria Brun and Two Women.

Tuesday 12.30pm - 2.30pm. Classes start 27 January, finish 31 March.
