C42 Moving away from Microsoft to Linux

Beginner
Tutor: Keith Catts
You may have been receiving messages that Windows 10 is unsupported and you need to change to Windows 11. Only to find that your computer will not support Windows 11. MS has now closed support for Windows 10 (last month). What you may not know is that a computer updated to Windows 11 may now be in the same position. Windows update each October. The old computer is still working and used by changing to the Linux Operating System. Such a change will be completely free and you will get an Office program completely free. This class is to introduce you to Linux included apps to give you a computer you can simply open and use.
District: Northside     Venue: Chermside Library, 375 Hamilton Road, Chermside
Monday 10.00am - 11.30am. Classes start 2 February, finish 6 April.

While Linux is different and can be a learning curve; for many users they can simply load it up and switch off thinking Microsoft, and just use the Linux loaded and included apps to do all your computing.
Want a bit more then a number of apps can be installed if you like i.e. Thunderbird for mail; Firefox for browser; VLC for media.
