C39 Everyday AI Making Sense of Smart Technology in Our Lives

Tutor: Harry Gilman
This course introduces participants to the world of Artificial Intelligence in a simple, engaging way offering a clear friendly introduction to Artificial Intelligence and the part it already plays in everyday life. Delivered live over Zoom, it's a conversational, jargon-free space where participants can ask questions, share experiences, and explore technology together at a comfortable pace. Across the course we move from the basics of what AI actually is, through the tools already sitting quietly in our phones, cars, and homes, to the bigger questions about ageing well, staying safe online, and what the next few years may bring.
Tuesday 9.30am - 11.00am. 8 weeks. Classes started 14 July, finish 1 September.
Cost: $25 (prepaid), 8 weeks
Current Enrolments: 21  (maximum 70)

Along the way we look at how AI learns from data and patterns, how streaming apps and search engines come to know our habits, and how AI is beginning to shape the cost of living, our health care, and the everyday choices we make.
We also spend time on the practical side of staying safe how AI helps protect us, and how scammers are starting to use it against us along with a look at the genuinely helpful tools for living well as we get older.
Sessions are interactive, built around real examples participants can try at home, and there's always room for shared stories and a bit of fun along the way. No technical background is needed just curiosity and a willingness to join the conversation.
