Tutor: Jill Braiden
A journal is a place to observe and record, to play, to vent, to brainstorm and explore and to reflect. It is seldom read by others and does not have to be a polished work. It's a bit like that one kitchen drawer into which we throw almost anything. The first part of this course will be a general look at journals, diaries and visual diaries and some helpful tips to create something unique and personal. The second will be a practical guide on book choice and materials required and various simple art techniques to enhance your journal.
Venue: 288 Edward St
Tuesday 9.30am - 11.00am. Classes started 14 July, finish 15 September.
Cost: $50 (prepaid), 10 weeks
Current Enrolments: 10 (capacity 18)

Basic Requirements - A simple writing pad or cheap exercise book and a pen/pencil are required for the first two weeks. After the first class, it is advisable to buy a journal or two and some cheap simple art supplies that fit into a pencil case. There will be lots of advice on this. The initial emphasis will be exercises and tips regards journal writing and doing something meaningful for you. This will be followed by a more creative and expressive section where travel journals, garden journals or whatever you like, are explored. There is no compulsory homework but you will probably want to start experimenting.
