Curious about AI but not sure where to start? By the end of this course you'll be using AI tools yourself, confidently and safely. We get there by starting at the beginning - what AI is and how it actually works, explained in plain English, before anyone is asked to try anything. We begin with the AI already sitting quietly in your phone, car and TV, then move on to the tools you can use for research, writing, planning and everyday problem-solving. We also spend real time on staying safe online, because scammers are using AI too.No jargon, no technical background needed. conversational and built around examples you can try

Supplementary information (website only):
Weeks one and two are about understanding what these systems are, how they learn from data and patterns, and why they sometimes get things confidently wrong. We do this without diagrams, equations or acronyms. From week three we shift to using them.
Most of our time goes on the practical side: writing prompts that get a useful answer instead of a vague one, using AI to research and summarise, checking whether what it told you is actually true, and finding the tools worth your time on both phone and computer.
We finish by looking ahead health care, robotics, work, and the bigger questions about what the next few years may bring for all of us.
Each week builds on the last, but nothing is assumed and no one gets left behind. You'll need to be reasonably comfortable joining a Zoom session. Everything else we work out together.
