H05 An Introduction to Cornish History and Culture

Tutor: Cheryl Hayden
Everyone loves Cornwall, but what makes it so special? Last term, we looked at Cornwall's unique ancient past and how that has informed various aspects of its culture. We visited its famous tin and copper mines, examined the great migration to the 'new world' and the impact of the railway on the world of art and tourism, and we looked at the way Cornwall is represented in popular culture today. In term 4, we take a journey through some of the most important historical events to have impacted upon Cornwall, with a particular focus on the rebellions of the 16th Century and the 17th Century English civil wars.
