Tutor: Christopher Davidson
This term we'll be exploring Jonathan Haidt's enduring non-fiction book "The Righteous Mind" which examines why good people can be so divided about politics and religion. Haidt argues that our moral judgements arise largely from intuition rather than conscious reasoning because our personal morality is shaped by our particular blend of six moral foundations that have evolved in the human psyche over time. This blend shapes our world view which influences our arguments about social issues. (Note that classes are fortnightly to give you time to read the book in between.)
